Books to Screen Adaptations for 2022


Here are some books that will be coming to screens this year





Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice


Rice's gothic Vampire novel will be turned into a series by AMC. There isn't much available about the series online but you can check out these first look from People and you can read the series (available at the library and on OverDrive).










The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han


Han is well known for her Netflix series of movies "To All the Boys I've Loved Before." Now, Amazon is bringing to life her first book series. This YA romantic series follows Belly, who spends the summers at a beach house with her family, her mother's best friend, and her mother's best friend's sons. Pieces of Her by Karen Slaughter


This thriller is available now on Netflix. The story of a mother who has been raising her daughter (Andrea) in a cozy beachside town. When something unexpected happens, Andrea realizes that there is more to her mother than she realized. This book is available at the library and on OverDrive.







The Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry


Set to release May 12 on Apple TV this novel is set in the Victorian era, in the year 1893, it tells the tale of Cora Seaborne, a woman relishing her recent freedom from an abusive husband, who moves from London to a small village in Essex and becomes intrigued by the idea that it might be haunted by a mythological sea serpent. This book is supposedly based on true events, and you can read about how the author wrote the book here . The book is available at the library.





Anatomy of a Scandal by Sarah Vaughan


Sophie thought she had the perfect life, until her husband (James) comes home one day and makes and reveals he had an indiscretion. It turns out this is just the start of something much darker. This series comes out April 15 but the book is available now at the library.








Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen


Auden is about to go away for college and decides to spend the summer with her father and his new wife and their beach house. Always focused and serious, Auden spends the summer enjoying the carefree teen life she never experienced.

This movie will be on Netflix starting April 22 and the book is available both in the library and on OverDrive.






House of the Dragon (Based on Fire & Blood)

by George R.R. Martin


Coming to HBO Max in 2022 will be a prequal series set 200 years before The Game of Thrones series. You can check out more about the series on its website House of the Dragon Official or you can check out the book at the library. The audiobook is available through OverDrive.






Blonde by Joyce Carol Oates


This fictional reimagining of Marylin Monroe's life will be coming to Netflix in 2022. Oates's book was a finalist for the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize. This book is available at the library.









The Sandman by Neil Gaiman


This famous graphic novel series has been rumored to be made into film or TV for years. Netflix should make this a reality in 2022. The first season will cover the first graphic novel in the series about Dream, one of the 7 children of Night and Time. Ruling over the world of The Dreaming and named Morpheus, he is the star of this 10 volume graphic novel series.
