Library Cards

Materials access
  • Patrons with a valid Benton Harbor Library card or MILibrary BHPL barcode can checkout a wide variety of materials and items from both the Junior and Adult Departments. If you do not have a library card, there are still books that can be borrowed. Just ask a librarian for "N/C books"!

  • Patrons may browse library items, but we ask that you follow Covid guidelines as per CDC and MIOSHA standards whilst visiting the library.

Public Computers
  • 1 hour limit.

  • Adults and Teens: Please be prepared to show ID.

  • Adults aged 18 and over are to use 1st Floor computers.

  • Teens and children through age 17 are to use 2nd Floor computers.*

Seating
  • 1 hour limit.

  • Adults aged 18 and over are to use 1st Floor seating, unless accompanied by minor(s).

  • Teens and children through the age of 17 are to use 2nd Floor seating, unless accompanied by adult(s) 18-years-of-age or older.

Children's Play Area
  • Located in the children's department, parents can supervise their children as they play with various toys and activities, using library voices and etiquette.

*If you are 18-19 and are still in high school, you must show a valid BH area school ID.

Tax Prep - !currently unavailable!
  • Yearly service offered during tax season. This is a first come, first served service. TAX PREP IS DONE BY NON-LIBRARY VOLUNTEERS. THE LIBRARY IS ONLY PROVIDING THE SPACE.

Auditorium Meeting Space
  • For an hourly fee, you can rent out our Auditorium meeting space.*
