April Showers Bring May Flowers - Monthly Updates


Updates this month at the Library


General Updates-

  • The Get Fit BH fitness initiative has begun. Visit bentonharborlibrary.com/get-fit-bh for more information.

  • Computers are now open for use via appointment in the Adult Department.


 

Junior Department-

  • You can now add a spring themed fun bundle to your curbside order. This month's bundle includes:

    • Your choice between a spring-themed or Star Wars book in celebration of May the 4th.

    • A DIY Flower pot

    • A random packet of flower seeds

    • Soil for your seeds to grow!

  • The Teen Pathfinder is still underway, so if you would like to join, simply fill out this form to attend. You must be in 7-12 grade to join.


 

Adult Department-

  • Decorations:

    • Front window - gardening

    • Little window - Mother's day

    • Children's east window - Disney's Little Golden Books.

All the new books on display are available for check out. At the time, patrons are allowed to browse the tables in the main downstairs circulation room for 30 minutes (1/2 hour). As new books are processed they are added to the display.

Special displays this month are:

  • Mother's Day books on the coffee table

  • Books on Margaret Maron who died this year. She wrote the Deborah Knott and Sigrid Harold Mystery series.

Jean is in the process of reordering series. Authors don't always follow a straight timeline when writing a series. It is necessary to read the series determine the correctness of the numbering system. She is currently reading the Jan Karon "Mitford" series and found publication date and story time way off base. She is remembering according to events so that the wedding in book 6 should actually come between books 2 & 3 and will be responsible for every other book to be remembered.

Stuart Woods, Harlan Coben, Dean Koontz, Cleve Cussler, and Lee Child are here with their new titles.

New non-fiction include:

  • Kamala's Way by Dan Moran

  • Bill O'Reilly's Killing Crazy Horse

  • The Book of Gutsy Women by Hillary and Chelsea Clinton

New mysteries by Charles Todd, Jessica Fletcher, Barbara Hanbly, and Joanne Fluke are on display. They are found on the display tables of new books (these displays are subject to change monthly).
