March Madness at the Library

Benton Harbor Public Library Junior Department

No, it’s not about basketball; it’s about books! March is Reading Month, and we want you to KEEP READING! Here are some fun ways to read!

Join our zoom book discussion club! We’re reading Who Was/Who Is biographies of famous African Americans (still celebrating Black History Month!) and women (in honor of Women’s History Month); all vital contributors to our combined world history! Request a free book (to keep) and we’ll send you a sign-in link for our book chat on Thursday, March 25th, at 4:30 pm.

Join one of our current online reading programs on our library's Beanstack!

  1. Re-Imagine Your World Winter Reading Program runs through the end of March and requires that kids earn 10 points in order to win a program prize pack. Every 25 pages read counts as a point (picture books count as 1 point as well).

  2. Get Lit at your Library African-American Children’s Books Program requires kids, ages up to 18, to read one book per month featuring a person or event in African American history. Prizes are awarded at 3, 6, and nine books, with an Awards Ceremony for all participants planned for January 2022. Finishers receive a night light bookmark to “stay lit”!

  3. 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Read-Aloud Program encourages caregivers to read books to their preschool children before they enter school. Prizes are awarded at 100, 500, 900, and 1000 books. Finishers receive a book timer.
