Lottie lives in a world of magic and color. Unfortunately, most people lose their magic AND their color as they get older. Not Lottie's parents though. Her parents have kept their magic and encourage Lottie to develop her own skill. Then, one night, Lottie's parents die in a tragic car accident. Lottie's magic drains from her and she ends up having to go live with her uncle in the edge of the world. There Lottie finds a garden, a new family, and the chance to maybe get her magic back.
This book was a really fun reimaging of The Secret Garden. It was magical story that I think middle grade readers will enjoy.
