Library Card Responsibilities
You are responsible for all materials checked out on your library card. The person signing for a minor is financially responsible for all fines and fees.
Materials are to be returned by the stated due date.
There are NO OVERDUE FINES. Materials must still be renewed and returned on time.
You are barred from borrowing when you have overdue or unreturned items.
After 4 months, materials that have not been returned are assumed lost, and the price of the materials are charged to your account.
Library Cards: issued all day, but cannot be issued 15 minutes prior to closing.
Tax Prep: Yearly service offered during tax season. This is a first come, first served service. TAX PREP IS DONE BY NON-LIBRARY VOLUNTEERS.
Children's Play Area: Located in the children's department, parents can supervise their children as they play with various toys and activities, using library voices and etiquette.
Auditorium Meeting Space: For an hourly fee, you can rent out our Auditorium meeting space.*
Material Checkout: Patrons with a Benton Harbor Library card can checkout a wide variety of materials and items from both the Children's and Adult Departments. If you do not have a library card, there are still books that can be borrowed. Just ask a librarian for "N/C books"!
*Please note that while we are a Public space, programs must be moderate.
