  • Adults and Teens: Please be prepared to show ID

  • Adults aged 18 and over are to use 1st Floor computers 

  • Teens and children through age 17 are to use 2nd floor computers

  • Self service, directions provided

  • Use a credit, debit card or purchase a FAX cash card at desk. 

  • International rates vary.

Please note: The Library does not receive incoming FAX on behalf of the patrons.

Library Card Responsibilities

  1. You are responsible for all materials checked out on your library card. The person signing for a minor is financially responsible for all fines and fees.

  2. Materials are to be returned by the stated due date.

  3. There is a $ .05 day fine for all overdue materials.

  4. You are blocked from borrowing when your account reaches $5 in unpaid fines or fees.

  5. After 6 months, materials that have not been returned are assumed lost and charged to your account.

  6. Payment plans may be arranged by contacting the bookkeeper at 269-926-6139.

Other Services

Library Cards: issued all day, but cannot be issued 15 minutes prior to closing.

Tax PrepYearly service offered during tax season. This is a first come, first served service. TAX PREP IS DONE BY NON-LIBRARY VOLUNTEERS.

Children's Play AreaLocated in the children's department, parents can supervise their children as they play (with library voices and etiquette) with various toys.

Auditorium Meeting Space: For an hourly fee, you can rent out our Auditorium meeting space.*

Material CheckoutPatrons with a Benton Harbor Library card can checkout a wide variety of materials and items from both the Children's and Adult Departments. If you do not have a library card, there are still books to checkout.

*Please note that while we are a Public space, programs must be moderate.

With Cypress, even patrons with very limited computer and writing skills won't need a librarian's assistance when creating a professional resume.
